La Aulularia o Comedia de la Olla inaugura la serie de traducciones que me planteo realizar del inmortal Plauto en verso libre castellano. Procuro, en todo caso, la fidelidad al texto latino editado por Lindsey en Oxford Classical texts (Bibliotheca Oxionensis), pero soy más fiel a su uis comica, razón por la cual las comedias de Plauto siguen siendo representadas con éxito en la actualidad.
La Aulularia ha servido de modelo a comediógrafos posteriores y, sin lugar a dudas, a Molière en su Avaro. Plauto no pretende moralizar, ni siquiera criticar, sólo utilizar el perfil psicológico del avaro para desmenuzar su obsesión por guardar intacta una olla de oro y hacer reÃr a un público romano que bastante habÃa llorado y lloraba por sus muertos en las Guerras Púnicas contra AnÃbal.
