La obra del Padre Alfonso Gálvez en relación al tema de la oración podrÃa enmarcarse en una trilogÃa: La Oración (2002), El Misterio de la Oración (2014) y MÃstica y PoesÃa (2018). Es cierto que, en el resto de su obra, hay una innumerable referencia a esta misma cuestión desde diversos puntos de vista. Pero en estas tres obras, el diálogo entre Dios y el hombre constituye el tema fundamental.
Su primera obra, en realidad, no es un tratado sobre la oración sino un pequeño vademécum que puede servir para recordar ideas que ya se conocen sobre esta materia. El autor lleva a cabo, en un trabajo que apenas supera las cien páginas, una enjundiosa tarea para ayudar al hombre de hoy a hablar con Dios y darle a conocer que Dios ha querido hablar con él desde toda la eternidad. La oración no es sino un diálogo amoroso entre Dios y el hombre. Desde los fundamentos de la oración, es decir, la necesidad que tiene el hombre de hablar con Dios -necesidad real- y la que Dios tiene de hablar con el hombre -libremente deseada-, hasta el último capÃtulo, Por los senderos de la contemplación, A. Gálvez desarrolla con profundidad los elementos necesarios para que ese diálogo sea posible por parte del hombre. Por parte de Dios no hay duda de que desea hablar con nosotros, desde el mismo momento de habernos creados como personas y haberse hecho Hombre como nosotros. Todo el misterio de la Revelación Divina consumada en la Encarnación del Verbo está orientado a expresar esa necesidad, que Dios ha querido tener, de amar al hombre y de ser amado por él.
Entre los temas más importantes que el autor trata, tanto el del Diálogo amoroso en el seno de la Trinidad, cuya participación se hace en el diálogo que Dios ha querido tener con el hombre, como el de la imitación de Jesucristo, constituyen ambos los pilares centrales de este vademécum. Una vez establecidos estos primeros principios de la oración, se abordan, entre otras, las cuestiones sobre las distracciones, las tentaciones, la necesidad de una vida sacrificada, hasta llegar a esa gracia divina que es la contemplación. No deja de asombrar y seducir al lector la inagotable riqueza que A. Gálvez encuentra en los textos de la Escritura para fundamentar cada uno de estos puntos, asà como su lógica conexión con los principios fundamentales de la sana TeologÃa Católica.
Debido a estas caracterÃsticas y al hecho de que lo escrito en esta obra procede, principalmente, de la experiencia personal del autor, este libro -junto a los otros dos ya mencionados-, puede constituir el primero de una trilogÃa muy importante, útil y profunda sobre la oración en la vida del cristiano. Su fundamentación doctrinal y escriturÃstica a partir de El Cantar de los Cantares, explicado con un lenguaje menos académico y más asequible en nuestros dÃas, podrÃa ser encuadrada en el conjunto de los tratados clásicos en esta materia.
