Este volumen constituye una contribución innovadora y esencial al campo de los Estudios Culturales al abordar la intersección entre la discapacidad y la creación escénica, literaria y audiovisual. Es el resultado de una investigación rigurosa y profunda que, atendiendo de manera preferente al contexto español contemporáneo, examina con detalle el papel que la diversidad funcional puede llegar a desempeñar en los ámbitos de la teorÃa y de la práctica artÃstica.
Los trabajos de este volumen abarcan una amplia gama de campos temáticos: el impacto del marco jurÃdico sobre la creación artÃstica; la existencia y, en su caso, el cuestionamiento y/o la transgresión de determinadas normas estéticas dominantes; las labores de traducción y adaptación; la producción y recepción de imágenes de la diversidad funcional, asà como el problema de las taxonomÃas y la accesibilidad y, en último término, la intersección entre la discapacidad y otras condiciones personales o sociales relevantes.
Los once capÃtulos que componen este libro están vertebrados por los conceptos de norma y diferencia, lo que proporciona al conjunto una estructura coherente y rigurosa. La obra es una invitación a cuestionar el statu quo actual (resultado de una evolución histórica especÃfica) y, sobre todo, una reflexión acerca del papel fundamental que, para bien o para mal, desempeñan las normas en la construcción y representación de nuestra realidad colectiva.
