ENGLISH DESCRIPTION Through Mafalda and her friends, Quino reflects with critical, intelligent humor about politics, economics, and society at large.

New commemorative edition on the character's 50th anniversary, a character that is already an internationally acclaimed figure.
This is number eight in a book series with Mafalda, Quino's famous character, as protagonist. These comic strips were published in newspapers around Buenos Aires, Córdoba, Tucumán, Santa Fe, and Montevideo. From the Vietnam War and the Space Race, to the third-world movement and human rights, the entire world is symbolized by a globe the protagonist watches over as she would an ailing person: she puts it to bed, keeps it warm, and even tries to make it better with her mother's beauty creams. With Mafalda, childhood has lost its innocence, whilst comic strips turned from social to psychological. Mafalda is more alive than ever. She reappears fresh and renewed in journals and in her new books. She makes movies and television. She travels in the collective imagination of countless nations culturally quite different from one other. And she reaches the most unsuspected places, becoming familiar to generations having nothing in common with the generation that watched her come to life.
