ENGLISH DESCRIPTION First published in 1818, Mary Shelley's Frankenstein; or, The Modern Prometheus stands as one of the greatest achievements in English literature and the foundation of modern science fiction. In this groundbreaking novel, Shelley weaves a tale of genius and despair, creation and destruction, exploring the boundaries of human ambition and the consequences of defying nature. When Victor Frankenstein, a young scientist driven by an insatiable thirst for knowledge, succeeds in animating lifeless matter, he unleashes a being both magnificent and monstrous. Rejected by his creator and shunned by society, the Creature embarks on a tragic quest for acceptance, love, and revenge. Blending gothic horror with profound philosophical questions, Frankenstein remains a timeless meditation on the human condition--the pursuit of power, the fear of the unknown, and the moral cost of creation.
