Méndez, Recinto de Gurabo, Puerto Rico. Les editores de este libro, Christopher Powers Guimond y Beatriz Cruz Sotomayor, quienes también fueron gestores de dicho evento, ofrecen al público lector en Puerto Rico y más allá un variado caleidoscopio de acercamientos a la densa y profusa trayectoria de uno de los escritores puertorriqueños más reconocidos del último tercio del siglo XX.
Transitan por estas páginas discusiones sobre el carácter multigenérico, intra- e intertextual de la escritura de RodrÃguez Juliá, asà como se sopesan sus aportaciones y limitaciones respecto a temáticas tan variadas como la historia, la memoria, el archivo, el cuerpo, la imagen, la ciudad, el género y la raza. El volumen incluye también una reflexión inicial del propio RodrÃguez Juliá, asà como una reseña de tres publicaciones recientes sobre su obra y un apartado bio-bibliográfico de referencia para investigaciones futuras. Como plantean les editores en su introducción, en la precariedad y el caos de un Puerto Rico post-huracán MarÃa, atrapado por el capitalismo salvaje y el colonialismo centenario, asediado por la fragmentación y la fragilidad, estos ensayos también son una intervención redentora ante el peligro y un baluarte contra la amenaza inminente del olvido.
