Transforming Discipleship
Desiring for their church to grow, many of our leaders are looking for the most recent evangelistic strategies. But if there is no growth in our churches, perhaps it is not because we are unconcerned about new people, but because we are not effectively discipling our members.
Often our churches do not have a coherent plan for discipleship, and leaders believe they do not have enough resources to encourage their members to be true followers of Christ. Greg Odgen shares the need for discipleship in the local church and resurrects the pattern of Jesus: to invest in a small group of people so their lives are transformed, so that they can help others walk toward maturity in Christ.
Odgen shares a lot about transformation; not just transformation of the disciples, but also of the very discipleship concept. According to Odgen, discipleship should become a process that can be shared and, thus, impact each generation.
