ENGLISH DESCRIPTIONIn Una de dos, Daniel Sada explores themes such as machismo, sexual repression, marriage, and double standards within conservative environments, using a tone that moves between comedy and tragedy and established him as one of the sharpest voices in contemporary Mexican literature.
The twin sisters Gloria and Constitución Gamal lead a quiet and uneventful life in a city in northern Mexico. Both work in a sewing workshop and, although they are already in their thirties, they live together and remain unmarried. Physically identical, they share such deep complicity that they often exchange roles, confusing those around them. Everything changes when they receive an invitation to a wedding of a distant cousin, since only one of them can attend due to work obligations. Gloria is the one who goes. At the celebration she meets Óscar Segura, an accountant who develops romantic intentions toward her.
The sisters engage in a game of exchanged identities, setting off a dysfunctional and absurd love triangle.
