Cómo Ser Yo Nadie llega a este mundo con un manual para ser padre, madre o hijo. La vida ocurre entre aprendizajes, aciertos, limitaciones y errores humanos. Muchas veces nuestros padres nos educaron desde aquello que conocÃan, desde sus propias heridas, sus miedos, sus experiencias y también desde el amor que pudieron expresar con las herramientas emocionales que tenÃan.
Con el paso de los años comprendà algo importante: crecer no significa únicamente aumentar la edad. Crecer es comenzar a mirar hacia atrás con honestidad y preguntarnos cómo nuestra historia fue construyendo silenciosamente la persona que somos hoy. Todos, en algún momento de nuestra vida, llevamos una historia invisible dentro de nosotros. Algunos cargan palabras que nunca olvidaron. Otros cargan silencios. Algunos recuerdan ausencias. Otros recuerdan experiencias que despertaron emociones para las cuales aún no estaban preparados.
La niñez es una tierra profundamente fértil. En ella se siembran afectos, miedos, creencias, formas de amar y maneras de comprender el mundo. Muchas experiencias pasan desapercibidas en el momento en que ocurren, pero permanecen trabajando silenciosamente dentro de nosotros.
No elegimos muchas de las cosas que vivimos cuando éramos niños.
No elegimos el ambiente donde crecimos.
No elegimos los errores de nuestros padres.
No elegimos determinadas circunstancias.
Pero llega un momento en la vida donde descubrimos algo profundamente liberador: sà podemos elegir qué hacer con nuestra historia. Y esa diferencia lo cambia todo.
Durante mucho tiempo podemos vivir creyendo que somos únicamente el resultado de aquello que nos ocurrió. Podemos cargar culpas, heridas, vacÃos o preguntas sin responder. Podemos incluso intentar convertirnos en personas que agraden a otros mientras olvidamos algo esencial: nos olvidamos de nosotros mismos.
Quizá una de las tragedias más silenciosas del ser humano consiste en pasar gran parte de su vida intentando ser aquello que otros esperan.
El hijo perfecto.
El profesional perfecto.
La pareja perfecta.
La imagen perfecta.
Hasta que un dÃa aparece una pregunta que incomoda profundamente: Y dónde quedé yo? Fue entonces cuando comprendà que la madurez no consiste en aparentar fortaleza ni en negar el pasado.
Madurar es reconciliarse con la propia historia.
Es mirar nuestras heridas sin vergüenza.
Es reconocer que fuimos vulnerables.
Es aceptar que nuestros padres también fueron seres humanos imperfectos. Y es descubrir que el dolor no necesariamente tiene la última palabra.
