The Song of the Sword: A Romance of 1796 is a historical novel written by Leo Ditrichstein and first published in 1900. The novel is set in the late 18th century during the French Revolution and follows the story of a young French nobleman, Count Raoul d'Armand, who is forced to flee his homeland after his family is executed by the revolutionaries. Raoul travels to England where he meets and falls in love with a beautiful young Englishwoman, Lady Margaret Langley. However, their love is threatened by the ongoing conflict between France and England, as well as by the schemes of Raoul's jealous cousin, the Marquis de Montcalm. The novel is filled with adventure, romance, and political intrigue, as Raoul and Margaret navigate the treacherous waters of war and love.
