Norman the Button isn't thrilled to visit his Grandpa Henry. Grandpa always falls asleep in the middle of conversations, leaving Norman bored and wondering why he even bothered to visit. Worse, Grandpa can never seem to get Norman's name right. So, when Norman's mom asks him to spend the week helping Grandpa clean his home, Norman dreads another long, lonely visit.
Sure enough, Grandpa dozes off soon after Norman arrives. But as Norman begins to tidy up, he discovers unexpected treasures tucked away among Grandpa's things-an old baseball card, childhood photographs, and keepsakes from long ago. Each one sparks a special memory from Grandpa's past.
As Grandpa shares stories of his younger days, Norman begins to see his grandbutton in a whole new way and realizes that being called Herman isn't such an insult after all. Behind the sleepy old button is someone with a lifetime of stories to tell-and someone who may be lonelier than Norman ever imagined.
By the end of the week, Norman's feelings have changed. Instead of dreading his visits with Grandpa, he begins dreaming up ways to keep Grandpa company and make sure he never feels alone.
