What Exactly is a Solenodon?
Solenodons are small, burrowing mammals native to the Caribbean islands, primarily found in Haiti, the Dominican Republic, and Cuba.
They belong to the family Solenodontidae and are characterized by several distinctive traits that set them apart from other small mammals like shrews or moles.
Physically, solenodons resemble large shrews with elongated snouts, small eyes, and thick, coarse fur. However, unlike most mammals, solenodons have a venomous bite.
