The book is simple, schematic even, but gets at the living essence of the life transition for a toddler moving into a bed. It matches the excitement, the unexpected terror that may come, the problem solving of the crisis and the mastery. The artwork is distilled, minimal, telegraphic but also authentic and truthful. Short! Sweet! Great For Kids!
This children's book is great for kids transitioning into their own beds. Fear is a normal part of childhood, and it's not a theme excluded from this book. While fear is a theme, I loved that the main character remembered their bravery, that monsters aren't real, etc. The messages are age appropriate and are likely very easy for a child to relate to. Do Not Be Afraid
'Sleep in Your Big Kid Bed' is cute and charming. The character learns ways to be brave without running to Mommy or Daddy. I really like the concept: If you are afraid, get up and turn on the lights instead of screaming. The illustrations fit the narrative like a glove. Five stars.
