Skwidge is a young squirrel who was born without a tail. Unhappy with being laughed at because he can't jump or do things the other squirrels do, he decides to run away from home and find himself a tail.

Just when things seem hopeless, Skwidge comes to the rescue of a baby beaver and realizes that being without a tail doesn't make him less of a squirrel.
