Dorothy Mahfood was born in Westmoreland, Jamaica, in 1934. After secondary school, she moved to Kingston, where she met and married Kenneth Mahfood. Together they raised their three children, Jo Anne, Bruce, and Dale, and started two successful rental car companies. During that time, Dorothy won the title of Caribbean Ladies Golf Champion. In later years, she moved with her family to Florida, where she became a successful real estate agent.
