Short Story of the Rise, Reign and Ruin of the Antinomians, Familists and Libertines that Infected the Churches of New England is a historical account written by John Winthrop. The book focuses on the rise and fall of three religious groups that emerged in New England during the 17th century: the Antinomians, Familists, and Libertines. These groups were known for their controversial beliefs and practices, which often clashed with the established Puritan church. Winthrop details the origins of each group, their beliefs, and how they gained influence within the community. He also describes the efforts made by the Puritan church to combat these groups and maintain their authority. The book provides a fascinating insight into the religious landscape of early America and the tensions that existed between different faiths.1644. This story also presents how there were confuted by the assembly of Ministers there; as also of the Magistrates' proceedings in court against them, together with God's strange and remarkable judgments from heaven upon some of the chief fomenters of these opinions, and the lamentable death of Ms. Hutchison.
