The author is a veteran of WWII, drafted during his senior year of high school when the country desperately needed military personnel; and served in the South Pacific, including 82 days on the Okinawa Picket Line. Dr. Whitney is now a retired naval intelligence officer an college professor. He is married with four children and lives in upstate New York.
