A Short Historical View Of The Controversy Concerning An Intermediate State And The Separate Existence Of The Soul is a book written by Francis Blackburne in 1765. The book provides an overview of the historical debate surrounding the existence of an intermediate state between death and the final judgment, as well as the belief in the separate existence of the soul. Blackburne analyzes the arguments put forth by various theologians and philosophers throughout history, including Plato, Aristotle, and St. Augustine. He also discusses the theological implications of these beliefs, particularly in relation to the doctrine of purgatory and the nature of salvation. The book is a valuable resource for anyone interested in the history of religious thought and the development of Christian theology. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
