After two decades of counterinsurgency and counterterrorism, Western land forces are once again facing the grinding reality of peer-on-peer attritional combat - massed indirect fire, drone-saturated no man's land, and positional warfare where ground is measured in meters and the casualty rate is a daily arithmetic problem. The doctrine most units carry into that fight was not built for it.
Shock Troops is a doctrinal concept for the smaller force - the unit that is outnumbered, outgunned, and expected to hold, raid, assault, and survive against a materially superior adversary. It draws on WWI stormtrooper infiltration tactics, WWII field fortification standards, and published after-action analysis from the war in Ukraine, fused with the author's own operational experience across multiple fronts - including large-scale trench assault, midnight commando trench raids, and deep-penetration raid operations in Ukrainian Marine Infantry, Special Operations, and Special Activities.
It covers trench construction and siting, battle drills, offensive and defensive operations, drone warfare, and the SOF Planning Model - grounded in doctrine, shaped by what actually works when the ground is real.
This is not a training manual. It is a doctrinal foundation - a starting point built to be built on.
