As February second approaches and the procession of the Virgin of Candelaria prepares to cross the water once more, Carmela begins to uncover fragments of a truth long suspended between memory and omission. A handkerchief embroidered with discreet initials. A suspicion never spoken aloud. A love that may have preceded her own birth. And the unsettling possibility that what happened on the river was not only an accident.
