The war we face in this life is a Spiritual War, a battle that we cannot win unless our creator comes to save humankind from the evil within. Since our first parents were beguiled by the god of this world, we have been in a spiritual war. A war that will last until our creator says enough. His promise is to remove the corruption that Lucifer/Satan was allowed to infect humanity. We have been held captive by a nature that we cannot control. We cannot pray it away or wish it away because God mandated that we live with it for a season.
