High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! The episodes of the Japanese anime television series Sengoku Basara are directed by Itsuro Kawasaki and animated by Production I.G. The anime is based on Capcom's PlayStation 2 video game of the same name, which was released in North America under the title Devil Kings. The story takes place during the Sengoku period, or Warring States Period, and revolves around two historical warlords, Sanada Yukimura and Date Masamune. The series started broadcast on Japan's Central Broadcasting Company (CBe on April 1, 2009. Though CBC aired the episodes first, other networks broadcast the episodes within a few days, including TBS, MBS, and Animax. A total of twelve episodes were broadcast, with a thirteenth expected to be released in the final DVD volume. Pony Canyon is planning to release the first DVD volume on July 1, 2009, which will contain the first two episodes of the series.
