Selections From the Recently Published Correspondence Between Louis Claude de Saint-Martin and Kirchberger, Baron de Liebistorf During the Years 1792 to 1797 is a book edited by Edward Burton Penny. The book contains a selection of letters exchanged between Louis Claude de Saint-Martin, a French philosopher and Kirchberger, Baron de Liebistorf, a Swiss diplomat, during the years 1792 to 1797. The letters discuss various philosophical and spiritual topics, including the nature of God, the role of human beings in the universe, and the importance of inner transformation. The correspondence is presented in its original French language with English translations provided by Penny. The book provides insight into the ideas and beliefs of two important figures in the spiritual and philosophical movements of the late 18th century.1863. The work of which the following is a translation, was published in the course of the last year (1862) at Paris. The nature of it will be manifest from the title page. Who Saint-Martin was, appears in a Historic Notice of him and his writings published in 1824 by one of his surviving friends, found in the Preface. Saint-Martin was a learned and profound spiritualist. Baron Kirchberger was a patrician of Berne, in Switzerland, Member of the Grand Council, and of numerous permanent Committees of Government. He may be briefly described as a Christian gentleman and Protestant. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
