The book titled Selection of Parochial Examinations Relative to the Destitute Classes in Ireland is a compilation of examinations conducted by His Majesty's Commissioners in Ireland during the 1830s. The examinations were conducted in various parishes throughout Ireland with the aim of assessing the living conditions and needs of the destitute classes. The book provides a detailed account of the questions asked during these examinations and the responses given by the people. The topics covered in the examinations include housing, food, clothing, employment, education, and health. The book also includes statistical data on the number of destitute people in each parish, their age, gender, and occupation. The purpose of this book was to provide insight into the living conditions of the destitute classes in Ireland and to inform policy decisions regarding poverty alleviation. The book is a valuable resource for historians, sociologists, and anyone interested in the history of poverty in Ireland. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
