Among the events treated are the Elm Creek Raid, the Warren Wagon Train Massacre, and the subsequent Indian trials that marked a turning point in American legal and frontier history.

Jake Akins has conducted extensive research into the history of the Western Frontier in North Texas, with particular emphasis on Young, Jack, Palo Pinto, and Parker Counties.
