Most believers take it for granted that the church exists as a kind of pool from which to fish for converts, that church services are, by design, a mixed multitude, and, as a consequence, what could be more natural than that an unbeliever should attend church, and be treated as 'the seeking sinner'? David Gay, however, contends that 'the seeking sinner' is an unbiblical invention, one which, besides harming the unbeliever himself, has a debilitating effect on the preaching of the gospel. In this book, he sets out his justification for these claims. Above all, as he shows, while the Bible does not speak of 'the seeking sinner', it could not be more plain on 'the seeking Saviour'!
