2. Landing a Zeppelin could require hundreds of ground crew. Men in teams hauled ropes, steadied the nose, controlled drift, and guided the vessel to its mast with a level of coordinated effort more reminiscent of a naval manoeuvre than a standard arrival.
3. The Hindenburg contained a pressurised smoking room with an airlock. Passengers could enjoy a cigar only metres away from hydrogen-filled gas cells, a design choice that astonishes modern engineers but reflected the confidence of the era in its own technical safeguards.
