The Search After The Self is a spiritual and philosophical book written by Abhedananda, a renowned Indian Swami and philosopher. The book explores the concept of the self, which has been a central topic in Indian philosophy for centuries. Abhedananda delves into the nature of the self, its relationship with the body and mind, and how it can be realized through various spiritual practices. The book is divided into several chapters, each of which focuses on a different aspect of the self. Abhedananda discusses the different theories of the self put forth by various philosophers, including the Advaita Vedanta school of thought, which posits that the self is identical with the ultimate reality, and the Yoga school of thought, which sees the self as a separate entity that can be united with the divine. The author also explores the different methods of realizing the self, including meditation, self-inquiry, and devotion. He provides practical advice on how to cultivate these practices in one's daily life and overcome the obstacles that may arise.Throughout the book, Abhedananda draws on his own experiences as a spiritual seeker and teacher, as well as on the teachings of various spiritual masters. His writing is clear and accessible, making this book an excellent introduction to the topic of the self for both beginners and advanced seekers.Overall, The Search After The Self is a thought-provoking and inspiring book that offers valuable insights into the nature of the self and the path to its realization.THIS 34 PAGE ARTICLE WAS EXTRACTED FROM THE BOOK: Vedanta Philosophy: Self-Knowledge Atma-Jnana, by Swami Abhedananda.
