The Samkhya-Pravacana-Bhasya is a book that provides a comprehensive commentary on the exposition of the Sankhya philosophy. The author of the book, Vijnanabhiksu, was a renowned philosopher and commentator who lived in India during the medieval period. The Sankhya philosophy is one of the six major schools of Indian philosophy, and it is based on the concept of duality between matter and spirit. The philosophy aims to explain the nature of the universe and the human experience through the analysis of these two fundamental principles. In his commentary, Vijnanabhiksu provides a detailed analysis of the Sankhya philosophy, including its key concepts, principles, and arguments. He also discusses the different interpretations and variations of the philosophy that have emerged over time. The book is divided into several chapters, each of which focuses on a particular aspect of the Sankhya philosophy. The first chapter provides an overview of the philosophy and its historical context, while the subsequent chapters delve deeper into the various concepts and principles of the philosophy. Overall, The Samkhya-Pravacana-Bhasya is a valuable resource for anyone interested in the Sankhya philosophy or Indian philosophy in general. It provides a detailed and insightful analysis of one of the most important philosophical traditions in India, and it is a testament to the enduring relevance of this ancient wisdom.Harvard Oriental Series, V2.This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
