It happened, as these things do, not in one decisive moment but in a series of small ones. A second coffee, a walk along the canal, a text message sent late at night that was about nothing in particular and somehow, for that reason, meant a lot. By November they were a couple in the loosest and most uncertain sense of the word. By December the uncertainty had vanished.

There are moments when the relationship begins to deepen. Long conversations that start randomly and end after midnight - when they realize that time has passed them by unnoticed, because they are finally talking to someone who listens to them, and not just their words.

The first honest admission of something that scares them - not a big secret, but a small fear, an insecurity, something they rarely talk about. And the way the other person responds with understanding creates a sense of security.

The moment when one of them says I don't know why, but you make me feel comfortable - they both know that it means much more than the words themselves.
The spontaneous gestures of care - bringing him coffee without asking, writing him a short message are you home yet?, covering him with a blanket while he sleeps. The first feeling of quiet closeness - when they sit next to each other, saying nothing, yet feeling like they're in the right place.
