This is a carefully transcribed and formatted edition of Benjamin Kennicott's sermon, 'The Sabbath, ' delivered before King George III's royal chapel at Whitehall and the University of Oxford. Kennicott, a noted Hebraist and canon of Christ Church, Oxford, delves into the theological and historical significance of the Sabbath, drawing from Old Testament scripture to illuminate its enduring importance.
Kennicott's eloquent discourse offers insights into 18th-century religious thought and the ongoing debate surrounding the Sabbath's observance. This sermon provides valuable historical context for understanding the evolution of Christian doctrine and its relationship to Jewish tradition. Scholars of religious history, homiletics, and biblical studies will find this edition an important resource.
