The story of Rush - A Whale Met, came about through doing a short story course at the Sainsbury Centre for Visuat Arts at the University of East Anglia. We had to choose an item in the display and I chose what I remembered of the Whale skelton coated with Alum Crystals in the Modern Life Cafe. This had most personal impact to me. I researched the likely course of the whale and invented a story round this. Hopefully this is a meaningful testimony to the whale's life and death, asked for by the artists Heather Ackrod and Dan Harvey. -Martin P. Rouse
