This volume is full of romances, as the title suggests, so those who enjoy love stories should have a delightful time within its pages. Some of them offer straightforward, happy conclusions, while others leave questions at the end, inviting speculation about what may follow for the characters involved. Nature and commentaries of various sorts, including political, social, and educational, form the subjects for other poems. The characters and stories are entirely fictitious, merely inventions of the poet's optimistic mind. Naturally, Harvard University, Boston, Vermont, a long-distance train, and the environment of Westchester County, New York are genuine, providing inspirational backdrops for a few of the longer poems.
