Riftbreakers is a complete RPG for adventurous, high fantasy storytelling. This second edition refines and streamlines the gameplay of the first, offering:
Intuitive D100 Skill System: The core mechanic is simple: roll equal to or less than your Skill to succeed. Difficulty is easily adjusted by modifiers.
Meaningful Character Progression: Grow in power through the acquisition of powerful loot and the improvement of your Skills. Rolling doubles on a Skill check allows you to mark it for potential improvement, and with hundreds of different items to loot, you will be progressing every single session!
Deep Crafting System: Don't rely solely on drops! Gather resources and utilize various kits (Alchemy, Blacksmithing, Cooking, etc.) to create the gear and consumables you need to survive.
A World Waiting to be Explored: From the desperate pleas of Kar Helos to the dangers lurking within Rifts and the mysteries of the surrounding regions, Kaethor offers you many ways to experience all sorts of adventures. The quest system (fully procedural) ensures that you want to go out and explore, for you will be rewarded handsomely!
Engaging Encounters: Face a wide array of monsters, from Cave Trolls to Underworld Dragons, each with their own unique action table, so you never know what they'll be throwing at you next! Enemies all adapt to your party's power level, ensuring they always pose a threat.
Tools for Solo Play (or for lazy GMs): Utilize random tables for quests, NPC interactions (including personalities, natures, and actions), and even landmark generation to fuel your solo adventures. Of course, all these tools can be used by a Game Master to run a game on the fly with no prep work!
Ideal for West Marches Style Campaigns, or for the Forever GM: With a gameplay loop centered around completing quests starting from the city of Kar Helos, it is extremely easy to play a drop-in, open table campaign. With Riftbreakers 2e, the forever GM will get the chance to finally join their players as one of the adventurers! Furthermore, there is seamless transition from solo to co-op play: play solo at home and then use the same character to meet up with your friends and play together.
