Russian tortoises, also known as Horsfield's Tortoise, are native to regions across Russia, the Middle East, and Western Asia. Named after naturalist Thomas Horsfield, they are scientifically classified as Agrionemys horsfieldii. Additionally, they are referred to by various other names such as Afghan Tortoise, Central Asian Tortoise, Four-clawed Tortoise, and Steppe Tortoise. Previously classified as Testudo horsfieldii, these tortoises are renowned for their love of digging, climbing, and consuming leafy greens.
