Russian Icons: From The Twelfth To The Fifteenth Century is a comprehensive guide to the history, art, and symbolism of Russian icons. Written by Victor Nikitich Lasareff, an expert in the field of Russian art and culture, the book covers the period from the 12th to the 15th century, a time when icon painting flourished in Russia. The book begins with an overview of the history and development of icon painting in Russia, including the influence of Byzantine art and the emergence of unique Russian styles. The author then provides a detailed analysis of some of the most important and iconic examples of Russian iconography, including the Virgin Mary, Christ, and the saints.Throughout the book, Lasareff explores the rich symbolism and religious significance of Russian icons, discussing the various techniques and materials used in their creation, as well as the cultural and historical context in which they were produced. He also examines the role of icons in Russian society, from their use in religious rituals to their function as works of art and objects of devotion. With over 200 full-color illustrations, Russian Icons: From The Twelfth To The Fifteenth Century is a visually stunning and informative resource for anyone interested in the history, art, and spirituality of Russian iconography. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
