Russia From The American Embassy: April 1916- November, 1918 is a book written by David R. Francis and published in 1921. The book is a detailed account of the author's experiences as the United States Ambassador to Russia during the period of April 1916 to November 1918. The book provides a comprehensive overview of the political, social, and economic conditions in Russia during this period, including the country's involvement in World War I, the Russian Revolution, and the subsequent Bolshevik takeover. The author also provides insights into the personalities of key figures in Russian politics at the time, including Tsar Nicholas II, Vladimir Lenin, and Leon Trotsky.Throughout the book, the author emphasizes the challenges faced by the American Embassy in Russia, including the difficulty of maintaining diplomatic relations with a country undergoing such significant political upheaval. The book also provides a unique perspective on American foreign policy during this period, as the United States struggled to balance its desire to support democratic values with the need to maintain diplomatic relations with a country that was rapidly becoming a communist state.Overall, Russia From The American Embassy: April 1916- November, 1918 is a valuable historical document that provides a detailed and nuanced perspective on one of the most significant periods in Russian history. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
