Dark comfort for alike souls and beauty in deepness
Rosemary Lee is a collection of poems, fragments, thoughts and pieces written across years of falling apart, falling in love, losing people, losing my mind and myself, and trying to find my way through it all.
This collection moves through love and obsession, grief and trauma, mental illness and identity, self-destruction and self-preservation, euphoria and numbness, anger and tenderness, as well as family, friendship and societal issues. Some pieces are poetic. Some are raw. Some are strange. Some are almost comforting. Some should have stayed inside my head and never shared.
There is no sound story here and no promise of a happy ending.
Different versions of me appear on every page - contradictory, messy, intense, vulnerable and completely fucking crazy.
This book is for us who have felt too much, too little, too dark or too complicated, whose depth has never been met or understood by others.
For us who have found more comfort and validation from a song, fictional character, strangers' words and the darkest parts of our minds rather than from people we know.
For us who have wondered whether we are the only ones who feels this deeply. We're not alone - my depth has personally reached the soul of the universe.
TW: suicide, self-harm, death, eating disorder, substance use, trauma and abuse, grief and loss, mental illness, abandonment, hallucinations/psychosis, dissociation, identity disturbance, reckless/impulsive behaviours, anger, intense relationship and attachment patterns.
