A rare window into the world of medieval medicine, Rosa Anglica Sev Rosa Medicin Johannis Anglici offers a fascinating glimpse of early modern Irish literature and the transmission of medical knowledge across cultures. This volume presents Winifred Wulff's meticulous translation of a pivotal section from John of Gaddesden's renowned medieval medical text, rendered into Irish at a time when Europe's healing arts were evolving rapidly. Centuries-old remedies and insights, once reserved for learned physicians, are here revealed in the language of early modern Ireland. History lives in these pages. For scholars of Irish translation studies, medical historians, and anyone captivated by the daily realities of medieval Europe, this work is an essential resource. Wulff's scholarship bridges the gap between Latin medical tradition and Irish intellectual life, illuminating the themes and practices that shaped historical medical care. The book's enduring appeal lies in its blend of practical wisdom and cultural heritage, making it equally compelling for academic research and classic-literature collectors. Republished by Alpha Editions in a careful modern edition, this volume preserves the spirit of the original while making it effortless to enjoy today - a heritage title prepared for readers and collectors alike.
