Roosevelt and the Russians is a historical non-fiction book written by Edward R. Stettinius Jr. The book delves into the relationship between Franklin D. Roosevelt, the 32nd President of the United States, and the Soviet Union during World War II. Stettinius Jr. was a former Secretary of State and played a key role in the formation of the United Nations. The book explores the complex dynamics between Roosevelt and the Soviet leader Joseph Stalin, as they navigated the challenges of the war and worked towards a common goal of defeating Nazi Germany. Stettinius Jr. draws on a range of primary sources, including letters, diaries, and official documents, to provide a detailed account of the negotiations and agreements that took place between the two leaders. The book also sheds light on the personal relationships between Roosevelt and key figures in the Soviet Union, such as Foreign Minister Vyacheslav Molotov and Ambassador Maxim Litvinov. It examines the impact of Roosevelt's death on the relationship between the United States and the Soviet Union, and the subsequent tensions that arose during the Cold War. Overall, Roosevelt and the Russians offers a fascinating insight into one of the most important relationships of the 20th century, and the role it played in shaping the course of history. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
