The Rome Express is a thrilling mystery novel written by Arthur Griffiths. The story revolves around a train journey from Paris to Rome, where a group of passengers find themselves embroiled in a dangerous and deadly plot. The passengers include a wealthy businessman, a beautiful woman, a detective, a journalist, and a mysterious woman with a secret past. As the train hurtles through the night, the passengers become increasingly suspicious of each other and tensions rise. When a murder occurs on board, the passengers must work together to solve the crime before the killer strikes again. The novel is filled with twists and turns, unexpected revelations, and a thrilling climax. The Rome Express is a classic example of the golden age of detective fiction and is sure to keep readers on the edge of their seats until the very end.I had my suspicions from the first, and I will tell you why. At Laroche the car emptied, as you may have heard; every one except the Countess, at least, went over to the restaurant for early coffee; I with the rest. I was one of the first to finish, and I strolled back to the platform to get a few whiffs of a cigarette. At that moment I saw, or thought I saw, the end of a skirt disappearing into the sleeping-car. I concluded it was this maid, Hortense, who was taking her mistress a cup of coffee. Then my brother came up, we exchanged a few words, and entered the car together. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
