Robert O'Hara Burke: And The Australian Exploring Expedition Of 1860 is a historical account of the ill-fated Australian exploration mission led by Robert O'Hara Burke. Written by Andrew Jackson and published in 1862, the book details the planning and execution of the expedition, as well as the challenges and tragedies faced by the explorers. The expedition was intended to cross Australia from south to north, but was plagued by poor planning, disagreements among the team, and harsh terrain. The book chronicles the struggles of the explorers as they battled thirst, hunger, and hostile indigenous populations. Ultimately, the expedition ended in disaster, with Burke and one of his companions dying on the return journey. Jackson's book provides a detailed and compelling account of this important moment in Australian history, shedding light on the challenges faced by early explorers and the dangers of attempting to conquer the harsh and unforgiving Australian landscape. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
