High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! Robert Brett Westbrook (born September 6, 1950 Austin, Minnesota) is an American historian, and Professor of History at the University of Rochester. He graduated from Yale University summa cum laude, and from Stanford University with a Ph.D. in History in 1981. He taught at Scripps College, and Yale University. Westbrook's first book, a reformulation and expansion of his thesis, John Dewey and American Democracy is considered the best intellectual biography of the influential pragmatist philosopher. He has been described by philosophers as our best intellectual historian of pragmatism. Westbrook is married to Shamra Westbrook.
