The Christology of the Council of Chalcedon (AD 451) led to many mislabeling Oriental Orthodox Non-Chalcedonian Churches as Eutychian and Monophysite. To understand why the (Miaphysite) Non-Chalcedonians are firm in their belief, never embracing the council of Chalcedon (AD 451) as Orthodox, and likewise before discussing the history of formulaic Christology in the fifth century, we must first establish the Christology agreed upon at Nicaea (AD 325), Constantinople (AD 381), and Ephesus (AD 431). Through such narrative of the history of 'Faith and Divergence', we will apprehend the Non-Chalcedonian Christological stance.
