Midwest Book ReviewRiddled with Cunning [is] a gripping tale that proves hard to put down. M.L. Meurs builds a cat-and-mouse story of trouble. [She] is especially adept at contrasting the perceptions and lives of mother Kari and teenage son Leo. Replete with close inspections of family ties and transitions, Riddled with Cunning's special blend of mystery, unexpected friendships, family, and how truth can become twisted in games people play will attract and intrigue not only general audiences, but book clubs seeking fodder for vivid discussions. ---------- Kari Roosevelt is struggling to reconcile the dawning realization that her failing second marriage to the powerful
Glenn Burns, a friend of her beloved first husband, is turning out to be a horrible mistake. She is barely holding it together as bad gets worse. Kari is determined to make life work while unaware of a sinister plan unfolding around her. Leo, her teenage son, and his best friend, Violet, are resolved to get to the bottom of his
stepfather's nefarious secrets. Added to the mix is Glenn's not-so-secret relationship with his naughty neighbor. A shepherd dog, gifted to Leo by a mysterious homeless man, may turn out to be worth her weight in gold. Especially when the kids find far more than they were looking for.
