Poetry books are beautiful, but not Rhetoric Maniac. Rhetoric Maniac contains 202 chaotic poems, 202 unusual pieces. Being a human in such a cruel world where the disasters are natural and artificial. Through the distortion and disturbing, the pleasant and peaceful, read at the risk of puzzling, thick and thin, madness.
Warning: Poems include topics that may trigger, such as abuse, anxiety, death, depression, self-harm, sexual assault, substance abuse, suicide, trauma, and violence.
Read these poems to meet Cay. Better yet, read these poems to meet yourself. Cay's spare, rich and insightful poetry opens windows on their life and the lives and experiences of people they know and meet, but there are also selfies for the reader. Even the briefest ones offer so many possibilities, they speak differently every day. For healing your life? End with 'A Smile' or perhaps go there first and consider what it is to be - smile, seed, light, book, butterfly. - Maren C. Tirabassi, author of twenty-two books, most recently Christmas Eve at the Epsom Circle McDonalds and Other Poems, and, with Maria Mankin, Death at Fair Havens.
Cay's poetry speaks of pain and loss but reminds us that empathy and hope are always in the background. Their voice represents a new generation of poets growing up in a difficult new world, but facing the same internal demons that have inspired art for all history. Reading Cay's work is a window into not only their soul, but the soul of a generation. - Jeffery Stites, owner and editor of Southport Magazine and Leland Magazine and publisher of Live Oak Media Inc
Their words are captivating, uniquely descriptive, and vivid in creating a vision in the reader's mind. Their poem on the tragedy at Uvalde is poignant. One is able to feel the pain and suffering of not only those in Uvalde, but to all Americans. They perfectly dissect the struggle and feeling of despair one feels when transiting life's many obstacles in 'This One's for You.' - Gerald Decker, owner and founder of Cape Fear Voices and The Teen Scene Newspaper and co-author of The Great Lockdown of 2020 - An Anthology
Cay's work has appeared in our publication many times. Their poetry, while simple in verse, is deep in meaning. Cay has a way of playing with the reader's emotions and fears by the way they verbally illustrate their stories. Cay is a young writer who will only get better with time. - Jan Morgan-Swegle, writer and editor of Leland Magazine, Southport Magazine, and Cape Fear Voices and The Teen Scene Newspaper
