of NorwichRevelations of Divine Love is a Christian spiritual book written by Julian of Norwich, a medieval mystic and anchoress. The book is a compilation of Julian's visions and revelations that she received during a severe illness in 1373. In her visions, Julian saw the crucified Christ and experienced his love and compassion towards humanity. She also received insights into the nature of God, sin, redemption, and the role of suffering in the spiritual life. The book is divided into two parts. The first part contains Julian's accounts of her visions and the second part is an exposition of the theological themes that emerged from her experiences. Julian's writing style is simple and poetic, yet profound and insightful. She writes with a deep sense of humility and gratitude towards God and emphasizes the importance of trust, faith, and love in the spiritual journey. Revelations of Divine Love is considered one of the most important works of Christian mysticism and has been highly influential in the development of Christian spirituality. It has been translated into numerous languages and has been read and studied by people of different faiths and backgrounds. The book continues to inspire and challenge readers to deepen their relationship with God and to embrace the transformative power of divine love.1901. Without any special study of the literature of mysticism for purposes of comparison, in reading Julian's book one is struck by a few characteristics wherein it differs from many other mystical writings, as well as by qualities that belong to most or all of that general designation. Julian does not set out to teach methods of any kind for the gradual drawing near of man to God, but to record and show forth a revelation, granted once, of God's actual nearness to the soul, and for this revelation she herself had been prepared by the stirring of her conscience, her love and her understanding, in a word of her faith. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
