This book began more than twenty years ago as a heartfelt poem written for a dear friend who had
deep love for dragons. She collected dragon figurines and treasured all kinds of dragon-inspired memorabilia. The original poem was beautifully framed and presented to her as a birthday gift, and her enthusiastic response made it truly unforgettable.
Over the years, I continued returning to the poem, refining the language, expanding the story, and adding vivid descriptive details. With every revision, the world of the poem grew richer, more imaginative, and more alive until it eventually became the foundation for this children's book. The illustrations came to life through an unexpected and meaningful family connection. While visiting relatives I had not seen in decades, I met Cassidy, the daughter of my first cousin, Ronald. When she shared her artwork with me, I immediately recognized her remarkable talent and knew she was the perfect person to illustrate this story.
Cassidy captured the scenes much as I had imagined them, while bringing her own distinctive - artistic vision, creativity, and style to every page. Her illustrations transformed the words into a vibrant visual journey and gave the story a life of its own
My greatest hope is that this book will be enjoyed by families for generations. May parents read it to their children today and may those children one day share it with children of their own.
