This is how he does it, thought Carol. He isolates himself, compartmentalizes himself. Each room in his head serves a purpose, for every task there is a room, and he is merely a traveler of rooms, one shut off from the other. He closes the door behind him and does whatever he has to. Then he leaves the room and looks for the room that'll serve him best. That's how you do it, said the demon.Perhaps, thought Carol. Perhaps that's how everyone does it.Yes, said the demon. Each of you a haunted house. With a monster like you around each corner.Or each of you a monster. I'm just a tour guide.*** Doctor Enderson is a modern day Frankenstein who can't seem to get it right. The people he's brought back don't act like the people he abducted and killed for his forays into necromancy. He's developing an exit strategy that will free him from his prison but rob him of every last shred of human decency.Carol has spent the last seven years hiding a terrible secret, haunted by a demon born of an incomprehensible sin. When she's not toying with suicide she's spying on her neighbor; a mysterious recluse who neglects his property and mentally challenged wife. The two are on a collision course and when Doctor Enderson resurrects his neighbor she comes back with the inescapable truth that all roads to redemption may lead directly to hell.
