This book is neither a proof of God nor a refutation. It is an epistemic audit: a systematic examination of the hidden assumptions that shape classical questions about God - personal, local, intentional.
Dr. Ekkehard Finkeissen introduces the Replacement Test: What still holds when 'God' is replaced by 'the ordering principle'? 9 of the 10 classic questions dissolve under this scrutiny. What remains is the question of origin - and with it, the limit of every ontology.
The book draws clear distinctions between wish and reality, orthodoxy and orthopraxy, genesis and validity. It takes the longing for a personal, benevolent God seriously without confusing that longing with truth. At the same time, it shows that the movement from an anthropomorphic image of God toward a tested, impersonal ordering principle is not an attack on religion, but a line of maturation that has existed within the great traditions for centuries (apophatic theology, Tillich, Advaita Vedanta).
Those who find comfort, prayer, or community in a personal image of God are not criticized here. What is criticized is only the use of God to render criticism impossible.
A book for readers who neither want to believe dogmatically nor refute cheaply - but to examine.
